Abraham's Journey of Faith

Key Focus:

• Abraham's journey of faith: not perfect, made some wrong turns, but kept his eyes on God and kept believing in a promise too distant to see with a faith too deep not to believe

Focus is on Abraham leaving everything to follow God's call without knowing where he was going. Abraham is our model of faith and reminder that God can do with us things we can't imagine if we will journey in faith with him. Connection Point: One powerful thing to notice about Abraham's journey is that all along the way, he made altars to God and prayed to God as well as listened for God's voice and followed God's leading. If we are going to journey to a place and hope in by faith and not by sight, then we are going to have to listen for God's voice and offer ourselves to him in prayer. (Romans 8:24 & 25; 2 Corinthians 5:7 along with the Abraham narratives in Genesis and the special highlights in Acts 7; Hebrews 11; James 2). The traveling mercy we want to take from this journey is the mercy of an Almighty and infinite God who chooses to be involved in our lives, has a plan for us, is leading us to a place of blessing to be a blessing, if we will partner with Him and listen to Him.
