Helping Us Home
Sunday Morning: Daybreak & Refresh
- [Where you from? Where is home for you?]
- [And I think of the sweet girls from Sagrada Familia – what would they say?]
- [Those who cringe because there are painful memories]
- [Those who long to go home because it was so sweet and precious and life is hard now being in charge]
- [Business person or traveler who is road weary and lonely and wants to simply be back home – more than a bed or place or even people; it’s the whole deal, the whole experience]
- [For college students, it’s the place you’ll pretend to not miss for awhile, and then you feel it, may not be where you are from, but where you long to find!]
- Home is the place we are longing to get back to! It is the longing in our heart!
- [Friend who went to preach at a place that everybody knew was wrong, but he didn’t have a good relationship with his dad, he had no home, so he marched himself into a disaster!]
- But we have a memory that is part of us, that reminds us of home, a home we have never been to – that reminder is the Holy Spirit (cf. Romans 8:9)
- Key Passages:
- John 14:1-23 Romans 8:9-11
- 2 Corinthians 1:22 & Ephesians 1:13 (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:5)
- Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:1-9
- Video: I want to use the God’s Faithfulness video that we have used before – God's Faithfulness at both services somewhere earlier in the service if possible.
- Focus: The Holy Spirit is God’s reminder to us that our home is with Him and until we can come home to Him, He comes to live in us through the Holy Spirit.
Sunday Evening: Sundown

- Prayer & Scripture: Richard Melton Hosea 11
- Communion Devotional: Joe McKissick
- Song Leader: Keith Benfer

Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge Him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth. Amen.
