November 14 - For Such a Time as This

(Esther)

[Possible Kid's Story?]

Sunday Morning: Daybreak & Refresh

Real focus today will be on Harvest Missions using an Esther Tie In

  • Esther 2-7
  • Scripture Reading: Psalm 139:13-16
  • Satan would love to get us to believe that everything is by chance or by our own efforts. If he can cut us off from a sense of divine purpose, of God actually knowing and caring and believing in us, then he can have us living for a sense of self-preservation and nothing else -- nothing noble or grand or sacrificially or higher than our own staying alive and occupying our own space on the planet.
  • Mordeccai has a huge responsibility -- he has to help Queen Esther realize that she didn't come to the place where she is by accident and without purpose. Just as God told Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3) that he was blessed to be a blessing, now Mordeccai must convince Esther of this same principle.
  • We must not lose our sense that God knows us, has a purpose for us, and has placed us where we are for something we cannot imagine. While our circumstances may seem far less important, our choices impact far more folks than we can ever see or understand. Yet everything in our world tries to convince us that we are here by chance, that we are only a random accident, and that fate determines where we end up in the end.
  • Focus: Our sense of God-connectedness, of God-purpose, is not an egotistical urge, but a conviction that we are called to something noble and great, even in the day-to-day, mundane choices we make -- cf. Jesus' warning about careless words -- and that we are where we are for such a time as this!
