Nearly all the rightful heirs of King David were dead through a series of events and murders
Now, an ungodly, non-Jewish woman, Athaliah was Queen mother, and all her sons were dead. So she wanted to get rid of any rival to her leadership and was going to kill all the living Davidic heirs.
Jehosheba steps in and saves the young child, Joash, and hides him while her husband leads a coup de tat that places Joash on the throne
The emphasis is on the power of one couple that has courage and faith and leadership and is determined to do the right thing with a child
